Users review: The film begins as a romantic comedy and even pedestrians generic and seems to be on the road in typical cliche? driving direction, but fortunately, evolves into something more. Jake Gyllenhaal's character and his alleged funny fat sidekick almost intentionally set as illustrations of what is wrong with most romantic comedies. Anne Hathaway's character as a catalyst for the conversion of two-dimensional rom-com to something deeper and more fun. When she spirited (pun intended for Anne Hathaway nudity, the better) her character forces Gyllenhaal's character and the film itself to grow (almost like Viagra) . What follows is a film deeply moving and sometimes really interesting. Comment on fighting disease, life and enjoy the moment, all relevant and painful. Even supporting characters are given moments to shine. Oliver Pratt pulled the rope has a wonderful scene delivered over dinner and there even a clever drunken rambling explain what is wrong with being a doctor and a commentary on the state of the Hippocratic Oath. From a beginning unemotional and even boring, this film surprised me is worth the price of a ticket.
