Users review: With heavy Hannah takes the stairs in Layered, clever Alexander the Last, Joe Swanbergs quality film production has traditionally been volatile. Drinking buddies falls roughly in the middle of its range, as it shows how several breweries staff dealing with mutual sexual attraction, while the share of other ways. Kate and Luke uses his love of beer as an excuse to hang out, to hide the alcoholic haze of ambivalence. Improvised dialogue eliminates funny and insightful moments, but in general there are too many in the same mundane exchanges. The two leading actors, especially Olivia Wilde, create believable characters, but Swanberg gives anywhere particularly interesting to go. Kate and Lukes initial politeness becomes flooded dishonesty and narcissism, and their modern Romeo and Juliet saga turns into a repetitive routine song and dance, which dissipates the energy of the films. Swanberg has shown that he can do better than this - end titles arrive on time.
